Chuck served in WWII and also the Korean War aboard Diesel Boat Submarines.
He has been the Knox County Veterans Service Officer since 1985.

Mission
The mission of the Veteran’s Service Office is to assist Veterans and their dependents in filing applications for:
- Pension and compensation
- Hospitalization
- Outpatient treatment
- Aid and Attendance and/or Housebound Benefits
- Grave Markers, Birth Certificates, Marriage Certificates, and Divorce Decrees
- Service Records
- Institutional, Vocational, Apprenticeship, and O.J.T.
- Insurance Loans
- Insurance Claims
- License plates for Service Connected Totally Disabled P.O.W.’s
- Personal Hearings and Appeals in Connection with Claims
- Misplaced VA Benefit Checks
- Completing Annual EVR’s (Eligibility Verification Reports)
- Completing Forms in Election to Switch to Improve Pension Plan
- Obtains claimants power of attorney for service organization representing veteran.
We obtain DD 214 or discharge papers, we help fill out medical forms, application for death certificates, application for medals, combat related compensation, agent orange information, ionized radiation information, prisoner of war applications, provide presidential certificate requests handicapped licensed plates, reimbursement on national service life insurance
We counsel and interview veterans and their dependents wherever they are located in Knox County.
Assistance in Obtaining Benefits
The Knox County Veterans’ Services assists veterans and their families and dependents in the presentation, proof, and establishment of all claims, privileges, rights and other benefits which they may have under federal, state, or local laws, and to cooperate with all national, state, and local governments and private agencies securing services or any benefits to veterans, their families and dependents.
